Splinter Cell Stunt Goes Stupidly Wrong
An incredibly ill-conceived publicity stunt for Splinter Cellular telephone: Judgment of conviction went wildly wrong all over the weekend equally police were called, warnings were issued and at least unrivalled "actor" came away lucky that atomic number 2 didn't get pounded into goo by an irate mob.
Patrons outside the Stage bar in Auckland, New Seeland got a bit of a shock when a man with bound manpower showed up, pulled a gun and started threatening people with it. People were shouting, diving behind tables and were "bad terrified," accordant to director Steph Kurtovich.
But he was only kidding! The whole thing was fitting a stunt to promote Ubisoft's rising Splinter Cell: Conviction. Unfortunately, the gun apparently looked jolly real, according to Senior Serjeant-at-law Ben Offner, who said the police couldn't secern it was a fake until they'd taken it from the jest at. As you might imagine, atomic number 2 was non amused.
"We consider these types of stunts to be very ill-advised and have real concerns a connatural one may one twenty-four hours end in tragedy," helium said.
Marketing director Duane Mutu of Monaco Corporation, which was promoting that game, said he feels the same way and shifted the blame for the hatful happening some other merchandising firm Monaco had hired for the case. "This was not by a blame sigh an attempt to get cops inoperative on that point and capture this kinda exposure," he said. "We do apologize, we shouldn't have had guns down there. It was just selling past wrong."
No kidding, Duane. Pointing guns at strangers is never a smart idea and in a booze-clean-burning environment suchlike a bar at nighttime, the actor involved is hot nobody decided to be a hero and make him a righteous can-kicking. Being a changeling isn't a crime in New Seeland, however, so when all was aforesaid and done the patrol just cautioned 2 men at the scene.
